We are so pleased to announce that AHA/AS/PDD's Advisory Board member, esteemed colleague and friend will be rejoining the board of The Autism Society of America. He will be back this year with our adult panel in a thought provoking topic of relationships and sexualty. Stephen is the second of now two adults on the autism spectrum on the board of ASA!!

Stephen is also a month or two away from officially being called Dr. Shore - in the home stretch of his Ph.D. - 2005 is getting off to a good start! We couldn't be prouder.

Join us on Saturday, April 16th, at Adelphi University for our Adult Conference with Stephen, this years keynote Liane Holliday Willey, Ph.D, and Michael J. Carley, Lynda Geller, Valerie Gaus, Linda Milch and others...more info to follow. Now to the news!

Subject: ASA Board

Rick Rollens Resigns from ASA Board of Directors. Stephen Shore Named as ASA Board of Director.

Rick Rollens announced his resignation from the Board of Directors of the Autism Society of America last week.  Prior to receiving his son's diagnosis,  Rick Rollens was Secretary of the California State Senate. When his young son was diagnosed with autism, Rollens' life changed completely, and he began to devote his working hours to the investigation of autism. Rick was involved with the creation of Families for Early Autism Treatment and helped establish the UC Davis MIND Institute (Medical Investigation of Neurodevelopmental Disorders).

Rick has assisted in raising over $70 million dollars to fund research efforts aimed at the cause and the cure for autism.    Rick currently has a private consulting business that requires an increasing amount of his time.    The Autism Society of America thanks Rick for his service to both ASA and to the greater autism community.   We are sure Rick will continue to work tirelessly on behalf of his son, his family, and to all those impacted by ASD.

Stephen Shore has agreed to complete Rick Rollen's term.  Stephen is a former ASA Board member, author, and an international speaker.   As someone on the spectrum, Stephen brings a critical perspective to the Board and to the activities of ASA.  Welcome, Stephen!
