Subject: ASA Board
Rick Rollens Resigns from ASA Board of Directors. Stephen Shore Named as
ASA Board of Director.
Rick Rollens announced his resignation from the Board of Directors of the
Autism Society of America last week. Prior to receiving his son's
diagnosis, Rick Rollens was Secretary of the California State Senate.
When his young son was diagnosed with autism, Rollens' life changed
completely, and he began to devote his working hours to the investigation
of autism. Rick was involved with the creation of Families for Early
Autism Treatment and helped establish the UC Davis MIND Institute (Medical
Investigation of Neurodevelopmental Disorders).
Rick has assisted in raising over $70 million dollars to fund research
efforts aimed at the cause and the cure for autism. Rick currently has
a private consulting business that requires an increasing amount of his
time. The Autism Society of America thanks Rick for his service to both
ASA and to the greater autism community. We are sure Rick will continue
to work tirelessly on behalf of his son, his family, and to all those
impacted by ASD.
Stephen Shore has agreed to complete Rick Rollen's term. Stephen is a
former ASA Board member, author, and an international speaker. As
someone on the spectrum, Stephen brings a critical perspective to the
Board and to the activities of ASA. Welcome, Stephen!
